Extend The Life Of Those Comfort Appliances With Superior HVAC Service

Heating and cooling a home can be an expensive process and this cost can continue to increase as the comfort appliance ages. One way to avoid this concern or, at least, reduce it to a more manageable degree, is regular HVAC Service. An HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system is the most common appliance for heating and cooling a home. Unfortunately, many appliance owners don’t understand what this routine service entails or how it can affect their system.

It helps to keep in mind that the filter system on the most of these appliances are not as effective as they should be. In fact, most filters let more dust and dirt pass through than they actually keep out. This dirt can severely affect the system and a few of the problems that it can cause could turn out to be deadly. For example, dust, dirt and debris can build up in the heating chamber of the electric HVAC model. This tends to happen all year long while the AC is controlling the system. If this junk is not removed before the heating system is first used, then there is a good chance of a flash fire inside the heating chamber. This task should be done when the furnace is serviced for the winter, however, it must be handled before the appliance is first used for the year.

Another reason to consider HVAC Service is a blocked evaporator coil. This problem occurs when dirt in the appliance mixes with the condensation that naturally occurs from chilling the coil. This problem typically happens over several years, but it forces the appliance to work harder for the same amount of cooling. Given enough time to spread, this type of blockage could restrict a lot of airflow and make the unit struggle to function. This happens because the HVAC uses sensors to decide when to stop creating cooler air.

One alternative to the HVAC is the split system. This method of treated air does not use air ducts, instead, it has multiple blowers that treat various areas of the building. The split or ductless system switches to a heating unit by reversing the refrigerant flow and changing the internal evaporator coils into condensing coils.
